Sustainability Policy
Sustainability is the capability to equitably meet the vital human needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs by preserving and protecting the area’s ecosystems and natural resources. The concept of sustainability describes a condition in which human use of natural resources, required for the continuation of life, is in balance with Nature’s ability to replenish them.
Climate Mitigation
Orbis have partnered with The Neno Macadamia Trust, a UK charity that works with smallholder communities in Malawi. Their priority is to support smallholder farmers adapting to climate change through macadamia agroforestry, enabling income generation, improving nutrition and increasing their resilience to unpredictable climate shocks. Macadamia agroforestry recovers the land from deforestation and regenerates the sustainability of the ecosystem all while increasing the food security and livelihoods of the people of Malawi.
$100 from each booking and 2% of the company’s annual turnover is channelled through to their work.

Project Partnerships
Our company has chosen to work with existing organisations instead of starting our own projects. This is because we believe a more sustainable model of development is garnered through collaboration. We have been working with the same communities in Southern Malawi for 12 years, supporting their income generating initiatives, infrastructure and education programmes. We also work with a number of education, conservation and business training initiatives in Malawi. Our Malawian team help us identify organisations to partner with and continue this support through regular needs and impact assessments.
