Building links between Scotland and Malawi, 2019 Skill Sharing Expeditions and Kelly Holmes returns- Apply Here.

Dom and I have had a busy few months. The year began with a brand new office space for Orbis Expeditions in the beautiful seaside town of Kingsbrdige in Devon. Sam and Emmie miss having Dom at home but I am not sure how much Dom misses having a four year old and two year old running around and constantly hiding his mouse and keyboard! Our new office means a proper base for Orbis and it is so nice to have a space that we can plan, dedicate to work and have that all important work/home separation that every business owner needs.

RSC had a busy low season with guide training, system updates, and 2019 high season planning. Even though we no longer live in Malawi our daily contact keeps us up to date and Temwa and Inno run a fantastic team out there and we are so grateful for their constant updates and eyes and ears on the ground. Particularly during more trying times over the cyclone and ensuring groups were safe and trips could run as smoothly as possible. Having our base in Malawi and UK really allows us to take care of all the details that we believe are what makes travelling with us so special and provides much needed peace of mind for groups travelling out to Malawi.

Scotland Malawi Partnership and The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

March saw us heading up to Scotland for a busy few days sponsoring The Scotland Malawi Partnership Youth Forum and the incredible screening of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. I ran a number of Global Citizenship workshops with students at the forum while Dom chatted to school group leaders and met up with many familiar faces- it is so nice for us to have so many repeat clients now- thank you for all your support! That same evening - and my voice gone- we glammed up and headed to the premier of The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. What a film! Dom and I loved the film and were enormously proud to have been able to sponsor the youth forum and the screening and to have been there for both events too. Our support of Scotland Malawi Partnership is directly related to our passion to support trade links to Malawi, every one of our expeditions is based around trying to increase tourism to malawi, support the local economy and drive trade and not aid to the country. Starting with the employment of our incredible Malawi team at The Responsible Safari Company.

Women's Skill Sharing Expeditions

With this in mind our skill sharing expeditions are attracting some incredible participants and in May I am heading back to Malawi to lead The Women's Challenge, working with Malawian entrepreneurs in skill sharing workshops, hiking Mulanje as well as time spent with students at Rainbow Hope Secondary School and the idyllic Mumbo Island. We still have spaces left on our Women's Empowerment September Expedition so any ladies that want an adventure, to head behind the scenes, use their skills and travel with an inspiring group of women do get in touch.

Check out our 2019 Scheduled Departures.
